A Thursday “Need to Know”

Just a couple of things that I wanted to tell you that are on the horizon – these are things you "need to know":

  • I believe that this Sunday is gonna be awesome! (of course, I believe that every Sunday is gonna be awesome because I come EXPECTING our God to show Himself strong). What are you coming expecting?
  • We will only have "ONE" worship experience, 10AM, next Sunday, August 31st! Every once in a while (on weekend's that we consider "vacation weeks", ie. Sunday after Christmas, July 4th, Labor Day) we switch our schedule and do "ONE" worship experience. On these weekends, with a portion of our crowd away, we can actually fit everyone in the building. It's tight, but it's good. Expect HUGE, extended worship and a message from Pastor sharing where we're currently headed. (Be early – it fills up quick :))
  • FAITHTrac 101, our New Attenders Class, is Sunday, September 7th. If you are a new attendee and haven't taken 101, let me know so we can get you signed up.
  • We are currently recruiting and preparing to train BFG leaders for the fall semester. If you are a teacher/leader and are interested in more info, let me know.
  • …and speaking of that, GroupLink is September 21st – GroupLink is the next step for many of you here at hyde park – more info here.
  • Awana kickoff is this Wednesday – wanna serve? let me know
  • We will have a "Night of Worship" on Sunday Night, September 21st (more info on this next week).

How We Can Help Those Separated or Divorced

This card was so encouraging to me. It showed me that we have a ministry that really stepped up and helped someone who was hurting. It showed me that we love people and acknowledge that people sometimes end up in situations that they never thought they would. BJ was one of those people.

BJ is our new DivorceCare Coordinator and I wanted to share his testimony with you because his desire at this point is to help others in the way that some helped him. 

Beginning on Wednesday, September 3rd we will begin our next chapter of DivorceCare. You may think that you don't know anything about this and can't help – take a moment to check out this humorous video and see how you can help BJ help people.

Why You Need GroupLink?

GroupLink Web You're gonna be hearing a lot about this over the next 5 weeks…

On Sunday, September 21st & 28th, we will hold our 1st GroupLink event in the ROC Gym during our 11:11 service.

 

 

Unconnected People are tentative about taking next steps when it comes to the church. We currently have hundreds of attendees that do nothing beyond the worship auditorium. This is not acceptable because we KNOW that if people don't make friends they won't stay. There must be a connection. Our biggest priority, beyond their salvation, MUST be getting them into a community of believers that is going to spur them onto growing in their faith life. (Hebrews 10:24)

 

BUT WHY GROUPLINK??

 
For many, coming into an existing group is the equivalent to walking into a movie that is already in progress, you missed stuff that (at least to you) seems like it was important to know. Knowing that no one really wants to join a "movie already in progress", GroupLink will be the vehicle where people are encouraged to take that "next step", to join with others (a new group) like them who are ready to become a part of something more at hyde park.
 
In GroupLink, we will meet (during the 11:11 service) in the gym, around the tables, where they will sit with their new groups. Everyone's on the "same page", the same starting point which will ease tensions, after all, "we're all new".

 

We are currently planning to have options such as: Bible Fellowship groups are small groups of approximately seven married couples or seven individuals of the same gender that meet weekly for fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. They are for adults of all ages, stages of life, and spiritual maturity.
