There is a song by the band, Delirious?, title "My Glorious". Check out these lyrics…
The world’s shaking with the love of God
Great and glorious, let the whole earth sing
And all you ever do is change the old for new
People we believe that
(Chorus) God is bigger than the air I breathe
The world we’ll leave
God will save the day and all will say
My glorious!
Clouds are breaking, heaven’s come to earth
Hearts awakening let the church bells ring
And all you ever do is change the old for new
People we believe that…
(Chorus) God is bigger than the air I breathe
The world we’ll leave
God will save the day and all will say
My glorious!
I have to share that this song is just resonating with me today! God IS bigger than everything that you and i deal with on a daily basis! He wants to do amazing things through you and i.
Which brings us to the picture above – So many of us deal with the issue of fear… maybe we feel really drawn to something but we’re afraid to do it because we’re kind of scared that we might fail…
I WOULD RATHER FAIL TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING AMAZING FOR GOD THAN TO LIVE THE LIFE OF A FAILURE WHO NEVER LAYED IT ALL ON THE LINE – I REFUSE 2 LIVE IN FEAR!
I know, deep down, that we are in the midst of an amazing time at hyde park - i am SO excited about this weekend! I am speaking part 3 of the "DRIVEN" series titled, "Driven by Obedience" and am so ready to bring it! There was a time in my "not-so-distant" past that I would not tell anyone other than those closest to me that I was speaking because I was truly afraid that people would blow-off the service because I was speaking rather than Pastor. I have had a change of heart in this mindset – I realize that i have found myself as a speaker, I’m comfortable in who i am as a communicator and those who aren’t stimulated or drawn by that can do what they will – I WILL COME PREPARED WITH PASSION AND THE SPIRIT OF GOD LEADING MY THOUGHTS, WORDS AND ACTIONS and believing that lives will absolutely be changed. You hear that? I believe lives will be changed this Sunday – do you?
Mike,
You’re a great speaker! Thank God for gifting you, and that you have developed it!
This week I have been thinking alot about gifts and talents–and the truth is–God gifts us–I know you know this–just my musings for the week, I guess–we have no real bragging rights to anything we’re good at–BUT, OBEDIENCE is using them–doing it right–is often the difference in success levels, I think–God gave you the gift, but he wouldn’t necessarily bless you with annointing unless you were totaly aware that it’s not you–it was totally his decision to use you–it could ahve been anyone–that humbling realization has sobered me at several times throughout the year–we’re not lucky–we’re blessed–God is so good to us all the time! I will pray that the annointing of the Holy Spririt will FALL ON THE SERVICES this weekend!
Laurie
AMEN! Great post Mike and great comment Laurie!
Ed & I always enjoy hearing you speak the words the Lord has laid on your heart.
Laurie – You are SO right – it is HIM, will we please get out of the stinkin’ way that He might properly use us?
Please pray that God would use this weekend (actually you can pray this for every weekend!) as a catalyst to bring transformation into the lives of all people – that our hearts would be open to the truth that He will speak to us.
Thanks Adeana and Faith – i always appreciate and enjoy your comments to our ongoing discussions…. love ya’ll
Mike, I so look forward to hearing you speak! As I have told you many times before, you always inspire, encourage, and challenge me. I look forward to seeing you in the coffee shop and on stage on Sunday. Keep praying for Mom as she is in isolation now.
Just in case you didn’t know. When we first started attending HP you preached at least the first two Sunday’s…maybe 3 that we were there. I thought you WERE the pastor, lol. Mardie corrected me. But, it was the first couple of weeks that we decided that HP was our home. Thanks Mike, for allowing Him to work through you.
Adeana, believe it or not i actually remember that! I remember looking out and seeing “Mardie from CiCi’s there” (i ate there at least once per week for a year!)
Glad ya’ll came!
Mike,
I think that you a very articulate speaker who knows exactly how to convey what you want to say. I think that there are times when all of us feel just a bit scared or jittery when speaking to groups. But always remember this…..when you are talking to God’s children He is ever so intently listening and holding you up along the way! Just remember the illustration of the foot prints in the sand. When we only see one set…..that is when He has picked us up and carried us through. Anyways, if you mess it up the first time you have two more times that Sunday to get it right! lol……..God loves you……..and I love you.
Thanks, Mitchell!
Great Service today Mike. You did a great job. I would LOVE more info on the soup kitchen…I wanted more last time you posted on it and just didn’t ask. I would love for Jaiden and I to go down there and volunteer some. Thanks again for all that you do.
Thanks, Adeana! I’ll post more about it soon…
As always, thanks for your encouragement!
